Important Beach Information

Ocean City Hours of Operation

The Ocean City beach is open to the public from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m daily. The beach is closed overnight so the city can clean and beautify.

Ocean City Beach Patrol

The Ocean City Beach Patrol is a service provided by the local government and its mission is to provide safety for all beach-goers. Ocean City lifeguards are on duty during the summer between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. For your safety, obey all instructions and posted notifications. Swim within eyesight a lifeguard at all times, and have a buddy with you when you're in the surf. To effectively do their job, lifeguards must have a clear line of vision. In some areas of the beach, beach umbrellas and other obstructions may not be permitted.

Surfing at Ocean City

Ocean City's gentle, playful waves have entertained surfers and boogie boarders for decades. Surfing is permitted at two beach locations that rotate daily. In addition, a stretch of sand along the inlet is reserved for surfers, and is open Monday to Friday during the summer, except on July 4th.
